Individualized, forever memories… A commission is a most personal and intimate project that brings memories to life for a client, and a painting created uniquely for you. Usually coordinated through the galleries that represent my work, I am significantly involved in the development process, teaming with the client to determine the setting, composition, size and overall creative direction of the piece. Personal meetings, phone calls, teleconferencing, sketches and photos… even travel to a ranch, home, office, hotel or garden and touring a property with family to zero in on “that sense of place” are all techniques that have been used to develop and approve a plan. On the other hand, commissions have been as simple as spotting a favorite painting on my website and having a similar one created or to tailor size and proportion to fit a different space. Ultimately the goal is to mold those landscape elements and mood to create intimate and forever memories for the client.

Below is a sampling of actual client goals for which commissions were created followed by examples of commissions completed:
- Commissions of very special and personal locations have been requested for surprise birthday, Christmas gifts or office space.
- A painting previously sold is often re-created and customized to meet a new size or proportional shape to better fit a select location in a client’s home, office, or hotel lobby. Example: A square becomes a horizontal or vertical or vice versa.
- The landscape presents a myriad of color through changing seasons, and time of day, thus incorporating certain colors for the client is an easy adaptation.
Tlaquepaque Sycamore-2 40 x 30 Oil |
Meander Through Magic 52 x 40 Oil |
- A pair of paintings commissioned for the same room or office that relate to each other through mood, place and color.
- A client wants to bring back a little of the majestic Rockies to a 2nd home far away and in a very different geographic area and climate.
- Extreme verticals, horizontals or a grouping of smaller paintings have been developed to fit more difficult wall spaces.
- Favorite family hiking or picnic destinations.
- Document a ranch or property setting for future family generations.
